Remodeling That Covers the Whole House

Home remodeling isn't one thing. It's kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, carpentry, drywall, tile, and the challenge most homeowners run into is finding one crew that can handle all of it without handing the job off to someone else. The Local Handyman LLC has been doing exactly that across the northwest suburbs since 2016, with 5-star reviews on Google and 50 project photos you can browse before you ever pick up the phone. Call (773) 444-7153 to talk through your project.

What drives the cost of a remodel is scope, condition of the existing space, and the materials you choose. A bathroom refresh with new tile, fixtures, and custom cabinetry lands in a very different range than a full kitchen gut-and-rebuild with new flooring and drywall throughout. We don't quote jobs blind. We look at what's actually there, tell you what the work involves, and give you a real number. Every job is different, contact The Local Handyman LLC for an accurate estimate.

What We Handle

One Crew for Every Room

You shouldn't need three contractors to remodel one house.

01

Kitchen Remodeling

Cabinet removal and installation, countertops, tile backsplash, flooring, fixture swaps. We work on the whole kitchen, not just one piece of it.

02

Bathroom Remodeling

Tile, grouting, vanity replacement, fixture installation, drywall, and finish work. Bathrooms are where details show. We don't cut corners on them.

03

Flooring

Luxury vinyl plank, hardwood, tile, installation, replacement, and refinishing. We handle flooring replacement from subfloor up if the old stuff needs to go.

04

Custom Carpentry

Built-ins, shelving, trim work, stair railings. If it's wood and it's getting built into your home, our custom carpentry services cover it.

05

Drywall and Paint

New walls, patches, texture matching, and interior paint once the surfaces are right. Drywall repair and finishing is part of almost every remodel we touch.

06

General Construction

Framing changes, structural prep, demo work. The behind-the-scenes stuff that has to happen before anything looks good.

Our Process

How a Remodel Actually Gets Done

Homeowners who've had a bad remodel experience usually got burned in one of two places: no clear scope up front, or someone who disappeared mid-job. Here's how we run it.

  1. 01

    1. Walk the Space

We come out, look at the actual condition of the room, and talk through what you want. No assumptions, no phone quotes on jobs we haven't seen.

  2. 02

    2. Scope and Schedule

You get a clear picture of what the work involves, in what order, and how long it takes. If something behind the walls is going to change the plan, we tell you before we start, not after.

  3. 03

    3. Build It Out

We do the work. The same crew that quoted the job is the crew that shows up. We don't subcontract the parts we don't want to deal with.

Northwest Suburb Homes We've Worked On

What Keeps Remodeling Costs Honest

kitchen remodeling work, professional service in Schaumburg, IL
It usually happens when a contractor quotes the easy part and then finds the hard part after demo. We've been doing this since 2016. We know what's usually behind a 1980s kitchen wall, what a bathroom floor looks like when water's been sitting under the tile, and where the work typically expands. We'd rather tell you that upfront than explain it on invoice number three. If you're comparing quotes and one of them is dramatically lower, there's a reason. Ask what it doesn't include. The home remodeling work we handle in the Chicago area is spelled out before a single cabinet comes off the wall.

What Separates a Good Remodel from a Frustrating One

  1. 01

    Honest scope before demo starts

Every surprise cost on a remodel is a failure to look carefully before swinging the first hammer. We walk the space before we quote it.

  2. 02

    Materials that match the space

The wrong tile or flooring in a room that gets heavy traffic fails fast. We'll tell you what holds up and what looks great in the showroom but won't last.

  3. 03

    Finish work that's actually finished

Trim gaps, grout lines, paint edges. This is where most remodels show their age in year one. We don't hand off the finish work to whoever's available.

  4. 04

    A crew that shows up

Sounds basic. It's not. We've had homeowners call us because they're two weeks into a job with a contractor who's stopped answering. We're Mon-Fri 8am-5pm, Sat 10am-5pm, pick up the phone.

Home Remodeling Questions

How long does a full kitchen remodel typically take?
Most kitchen remodels run two to four weeks from demo to final trim, depending on scope. If we're moving plumbing or electrical rough-ins, or waiting on custom cabinets to ship, it can extend. Jobs where everything is staged and ready go faster. We'll give you a realistic timeline before work starts, not an optimistic one.
Do you handle both demo and installation, or just the finish work?
Both. Demolition, disposal, rough work, and finish installation are all part of how we run a remodel. You shouldn't have to hire a separate demo crew and then bring us in. We take it from the existing condition to the finished room.
What happens if you open a wall and find something unexpected?
We stop and talk to you before the cost changes. Water damage, old wiring, framing issues behind tile. These things happen in older homes. We've seen most of them. We'll tell you what's there, what it means for the job, and what it costs to address it. No surprises on the invoice that weren't discussed first.
Can you handle the tile work and flooring as part of the same remodel?
Yes. Tile, grout, and flooring replacement are part of our regular scope on kitchen and bathroom remodels. Running them together with the same crew is cleaner than sequencing two separate contractors. The transitions between floor types and tile edges get handled properly when one crew owns the whole floor.
Do I need to buy materials myself, or do you handle that?
We can work either way. Some homeowners want to pick their own tile, cabinets, and fixtures. That's fine, and we'll tell you exactly what specs to order. Others prefer to hand that off. We'll discuss it during the walkthrough and figure out what makes the most sense for your job. Either way, you know what's going in before it's installed.
What's the difference between a remodel and a renovation?
In practice, the terms get used interchangeably, and we use them that way too. Technically, a renovation restores what's there and a remodel changes the layout or function. If you're redoing your kitchen the same way it was, it's a renovation. If you're moving the island or knocking out a wall, it's a remodel. Either way, the general home improvement work is the same kind of job for us.
Can you handle tile work and flooring as part of the same remodel?
Yes. Tile, grout, and flooring replacement are part of our regular scope on kitchen and bathroom remodels. Running them together with the same crew is cleaner than sequencing two separate contractors. The transitions between floor types and tile edges get handled properly when one crew owns the whole floor.
